| Mellor, Bee |
|
Bee is a textile and mixed media artist. She enjoys discovering and forming new textures and surfaces combining paint and stitch with textile and paper. Materials used are silk, cotton, muslin, transparent organza, yarn, brown paper, tissue, net and "paper" made from silk. All layers are combined with free machine stitch and often hand embroidery as well. Inspirations connect with the surrounding Gippsland countryside, organic forms, natural found objects and flora. Colour and texture is important with attention to intricate detail, often using beads, shells, feathers and metal pieces. Bee has enjoyed a lifetime love of textile related art and craft producing pictures, cards and cushions. She holds a distinction in Creative Embroidery through the City and Guilds of London Institute, and was also a member and tutor of the Embroiderers' Guild for many years. In 2005 she emigrated from England to be near family and is now living in Churchill. She exhibits her work in regional shows and galleries as well as two in Melbourne. |
