Hart, Yve

Yve holds a Diploma of Arts (Textiles/Studio Stitch) and is a member of 'Colourful Women', a group of fellow graduate textiles artists. Whilst drawing on certain disciplines absorbed as a student, Yve largely allows her intuition to guide her hands, whether creating wall hangings, collages or vessels.

The essence of her body of work is 'variety'. She enjoys the adventure of exploring new techniques and materials, with all its resulting surprises and discoveries. Working with textiles provides endless possibilities and little chance of boredom, something she endeavours to avoid in all aspects of her life.

Travelling is her inspiration, whether it is to exotic countries overseas, or simply moving around her local area of the Yarra Valley in Victoria. "No matter where you are, there is always an artwork waiting to be revealed, if one is observant," she says.

Recently returned from Japan, Yve is currently besotted with antique and vintage kimono fabrics, particularly the use of colour, as well as the myriad textures of the various weaves of silks, linens and cottons.
