Beaney, Venetia

My initial interest in wool was sparked when we had a small farm with a Corriedale sheep stud. The readily available fleeces prompted me to join the Spinning and Woolcraft Group in Maryborough, Victoria, in 1996. That was the start of felt making and a greater involvement with knitting.

After moving to Port Albert I joined spinning groups in Yarram and Foster and gained valuable knowledge and shared experience with members of both groups.

In 2003 I joined the Victorian Feltmakers Inc. and through various workshops, meetings and newsletters have continued to expand my knowledge and expertise in this wonderful craft.

The only limit in crafting the marvellous natural wool fibre is imagination, allowing experimentation with various dyes, fibre blending and manipulation of felt to create unique hats, scarves, bags, jewellery and toys.

Stockyard Gallery in Foster has been my inspiration and steadfast supporter of my work.
