"Descendants" 8 to 20 July 2010 a mother/daughter exhibition

Sharon Anderson
Sharon Anderson has a studio in Newborough where she creates her screenprints and pastel drawings. All her work is original and is carefully created by hand.
Her love of drawing and colour is evident in the fantasy style 'Goddess' drawings. The still life drawings are a collection of items from her family and friends put together in a very non traditional fashion with bowls, spoons and tea pots balanced and placed across each other.
The series of black and white illustrative style limited edition screenprints was inspired by children's book illustrations from the early 20th Century in which the viewer is encouraged to create their own unique and personal narrative about 'Gryphon Cottage' and the other images in the series such as 'Carousel Maze' and 'Darklight Manor'.
This exhibition is a collection of artwork in which Sharon's passion in both printmaking and drawing is evident.

Klaire Anderson
In the world of girls, gags and giggles, pin-ups have been iconic since the 1940s. The rockabilly scene has taken these aesthetics and brought them to a contemporary level. Girls with tattoos, tunnels and piercings in '50s get-ups have become quite renowned.
As a tribute to the original girls of the '50s from Titter, Wink and Flirt magazines, they have been turned into macabre beauties - a gaze upon horror imagery depicting the female protagonist, as she was portrayed then, compared to now.
These photopolymer prints of skulls, pin ups and such have turned the striking into the gruesome, but ... you still can't help but want ...

Klaire is following in her mother's creative footsteps, has completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at RMIT and is now in the second year of a Degree at Monash Gippsland.

Sharon says she also studied at Monash Gippsland - when it was called Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education GIAE (quite a few years ago!).
